Engaging playtesters in early stages of development to create great games.
At Battle Barge, players weren’t just along for the ride—they were part of the crew. From early development through launch preparation, I worked to integrate playtesters into the process, ensuring that their feedback directly shaped the game’s features, balance, and overall experience. Playtests weren’t just a check-the-box exercise; they were an active collaboration between players and developers. I worked across user research, analytics, and engineering teams to build structured internal feedback loops that transformed raw player insights into actionable development priorities, making sure the voice of the community wasn’t just heard but actually made an impact on the game.
Beyond playtesting, I worked with marketing to lay the foundation for a thriving community ahead of launch. We developed a multi-platform launch strategy that included streaming, live events, blogs and community engagement activities. To ensure everything went smoothly, I led development of a custom Discord bot, tailored to engagement, support, and moderation needs. For a game preparing to onboard hundreds of thousands of players, it was a game-changer in creating an organized, scalable, and welcoming community space.
I also took point on building policies that would shape the social landscape of the game—a project I care deeply about. I wrote toxicity guidelines, a code of conduct, and player support documentation designed to foster inclusivity and fairness. A great game community isn’t just about engagement; it’s about creating an environment where players want to return, grow, and invest their time.
Battle Barge wasn’t just another live-service title—it was a collaborative experience, shaped by players as much as developers. My role was to make sure that every system, every policy, and every initiative we put into place supported that vision.
